Book Description

I didn’t know when I wrote the first love spell that it would actually make things happen. Like, actually make people fall in love with each other…

How could I have known something like that? I mean, magic isn’t real, right?

But here’s the thing—the spell does work and so does the next one and the next one…and suddenly I’m getting a whole lot of attention from everyone at my high school. Me, Blend-into-the-Walls, Please-Let-Me-Introvert-in-Peace Rowan Marshall. And not only that, but I’ve also caught the attention of Luca Russo, a godlike, football-playing hottie who claims he likes me just the way I am. Ummm…

But as I’m about to learn, playing around with things you don’t understand means when things go wrong—like really, very awfully wrong—you don’t know how to fix them.

Book Review

Love Spells and Other Disasters is a YA novel full of romance, friendship, family and magic.

Rowan starts to sell love spells for a school project. She was planning on making money for the school project and helping out her partner. Rowan doesn’t believe in magic so she is more shocked than anyone when the love spells seem to be working. Rowan also starts dating an attractive, popular, ex-football player. Rowan’s life is going great until the spells start to have unintended consequences. Rowan has to figure out how to fix the spells. Magic always has a consequence but will Rowan find a way to fix the spell that doesn’t make everything worse?

Love Spells and Other Disasters is a very entertaining YA romance. Everyone treats Rowan like she is weird, so she only has one friend, Ethan. Rowan and Ethan know each other very well and have always been there for each other. It is interesting to see how their friendship changes when they are involved in romantic relationships. The story is interesting with spells and other paranormal elements. Rowan’s mom’s livelihood revolves around paranormal and talking to her late husband, but Rowan doesn’t believe in any of it. Rowan is working on a school project with her enemy, Abby. Rowan and Abby are very different, and Rowan feels like she owes Abby. They start selling love spells that Rowan writes. Love Spells and Other Disasters is unique with the perfect blend of romance, paranormal, friendship and family.
